We had 131 players across three sections representing 12 different national federations: Croatia, Denmark, England, Germany, India, Ireland, Jamaica, Latvia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, and the USA. We had unrated players participating in their first over-the-board tournament and we had Ireland’s only Grandmaster, Alex Baburin. We also had our invited guest, Ukrainian Woman Grandmaster Evgeniya Doluhanova, who we thanked for her attendance.

Saturday Social Event
We had a tournament-sponsored social event on the Saturday night. There was a buffet, a free drink for every player, and Nemo Le Magician floating around performing his act for groups of attendees (https://www.facebook.com/NemoLeMagician). Of course, there were also chess boards, pieces, and clocks laying around so there were many impromptu games as well. I estimate that we had about 70 people, including friends and family of the players, attend through the course of the evening.
Game of the Tournament
WFM Diana Mirza was kind enough to select a Game of the Tournament. That accolade goes to James Toon in the Master section for his round 1 game against Dylan Mize. The ending of the game was what clinched the honours. It was a queen sacrifice that led to checkmate with 2 bishops with many pieces left on the board. Chef’s kiss.
